Dixie D’Amelio is blonde again! Just in time for spring, the singer traded her signature dark black hair for a French vanilla blonde bob. And the most surprising thing about this isn’t the hair transformation itself but rather how it was achieved!
The mastermind behind D’Amelio’s new look is Dimitris Giannetos, a hairstylist to celebs like Megan Fox, Shay Mitchell, Camila Cabello, and more. Giannetos shared a series of new photos on Instagram showing D’Amelio’s blonde bob as well as a video detailing the process of getting her hair from black to platinum. The secret ingredient? A super affordable box dye!
Giannetos used the L’Oréal Paris Féria Hyper Platinum Hair Color Advanced Lightening System in the shade Hyper Platinum. The at-home hair kit usually retails for $13 but is now on sale for just below $10. The system includes gloves, developer créme, bleaching powder, hyper lightening crème, and anti-brass purple conditioner, so if you’re feeling inspired to recreate D’Amelio’s look, you’ll have everything you need!
To start, Giannetos applied the bleach, starting from mid-length and spreading it to the ends, so that it had more time to process. Then, he went back to do the roots, which processes faster due to the body heat from the scalp. After the processing was done, D’Amelio went for a quick rinse and came back for a round of toner. Following another rinse, it was finally time for the big reveal! Upon seeing the freshly-dyed hair, D’Amelio said, Wow, it’s so blonde!” Her reaction was totally relatable, TBH.

D’Amelio is no stranger to experimenting with different hairstyles. We previously saw D’Amelio with blonde hair a little over a year ago, when she debuted a choppy bowl cut in March of 2023. Back in 2022, the TikTok star also shaved her hair off and opter for a buzz cut. So, this blonde bob is just the latest of her many bold hair transformations.
It seems bobs are a major hair trend this spring. Zendaya also debuted a blonde bob just last week. Halle Bailey recently opted for short bob-length twisted locs and curls too.
